When I reviewed this work in July of 2005, I said "It is the book that every serious Christian should purchase for a complete stranger ...and pray, with a whole heart, that he or she will read it..." I was right to say it then, and I am right to repeat it now.

At that time, Nicholson had reached deeply into his own pocket to publish his personal testament of moral development from boyhood to adulthood, from innocent inexperience to a mature wisdom that enables him to teach others.  The present edition has been chosen by an important New York publishing house, the Vantage Press, for a wider international distribution.  In the 2 year span, Nicholson has been able to add additional hard-earned insights for the benefit of his audience.

From his humble beginnings under the tutelage of his grandfather, Nicholson acknowledges the influences not only of education and moral philosophy, but of the trials and temptations, the fears and anxieties that he was forced to meet and overcome.  He says, "Fear is a little demon that attempts to block our path on our way to our Father's wisdom".  That same sentiment has been expressed for centuries in grander and more eloquent language, but Nicholson shows, on every page, his gift for restating fundamental truths in daily life, in language simple yet eloquent, that reaches into the heart of Christian teaching and thinking.

The best service the book and its author can perform is to engage readers and to help them focus on aspects of their lives heretofore ignored, in order to help them live a more Christian lifestyle.  Read the book; buy a copy as a gift for a friend or loved one.  You"ll both be glad you did.
